The Star is card seventeen, and it comes right after the Tower: the storm has passed, and everything is open and calm again. Upright, it brings hope, healing and renewal: the worst is over. A woman kneels by a pool, under a sky of eight stars.

She pours one jug back into the pool, the other onto the land. Above her shines a great star, with seven smaller stars around it. Turn the card around, and the Star’s hope is running low.

You might feel disconnected, discouraged, or unsure that anything will improve. The light hasn’t gone out; you’ve only lost sight of it. Start small: rest, look after yourself, and find one thing that gives you a little faith again.

And be careful of cynicism becoming a habit. In love, the Star is healing and hopeful: renewed trust after a difficult time, or the sense that real love is possible again. If you’re single, be open and honest about who you are.

At work, it favours creative work, vision and long-term goals, and getting your confidence back after a setback. With money, think long term: small, steady amounts, like water poured back into the pool, slowly fill it again. And as a yes or no?

Yes: it’s one of the most hopeful cards in the deck. Go ahead, and trust that things are moving in the right direction.

Upright

After the Tower comes the Star. A woman kneels by a pool under a sky of eight stars, pouring water onto the land and back into the pool. Everything is open and calm. Upright, the card brings hope, healing and renewal. The worst is over, and you can trust that things are getting better. It invites you to reconnect with what inspires you, to be generous with yourself, and to believe in a future you can’t yet fully see.

Reversed

Reversed, the Star suggests that hope is running low. You might feel disconnected, discouraged or unsure that anything will improve. The light hasn’t gone out; you’ve lost sight of it. Start small: rest, look after yourself, and find one thing that gives you a little faith again. Be careful of cynicism becoming a habit.

Love

In love, the Star is healing and hopeful. It can bring a relationship that feels peaceful and open, renewed trust after a difficult time, or the sense that real love is possible again. If you’re single, it favours being open and honest about who you are. Reversed, past hurt may be making it hard to trust.

Career and money

At work, the Star favours creative work, vision and long-term goals. It’s a good card for recovering after a setback, getting your confidence back, or being recognised for your talent. Follow what inspires you. Reversed, you may need to reconnect with why you started.
