Five to Seven: The Middle
The middle of the count is where things get tested. Five shakes what Four built, Six finds a new balance, and Seven asks you to weigh it all up.
DisruptionFive

Five breaks the square of Four, so Fives often show tension, conflict or loss. In the Five of Wands, five people swing staffs at each other, but no one is hurt: friction, maybe a contest. In the Five of Pentacles, two people walk through snow past a lit window: hardship, with help perhaps closer than it seems. In the Five of Cups, a figure mourns three spilled cups while two still stand. In the Five of Swords, one figure gathers swords while two others walk away: a win that leaves tension. Look for what remains: a Five is a point in the story, not its end.
ExchangeSix

After the shake-up, Six finds a new balance through give and take. In the Six of Pentacles, a merchant weighs coins on his scales and hands them to someone kneeling: generosity, or unequal power? In the Six of Cups, one child offers another a cup of flowers: kindness and memory. In the Six of Wands, a rider is crowned with a wreath: effort returned as praise. In the Six of Swords, a boat carries a cloaked figure and a child towards calmer water: moving on. Ask: what’s moving between people, and is it fair?
TestSeven

Seven is a test. Something has been built, and now it’s questioned. In the Seven of Pentacles, a figure leans on a hoe and looks at the coins growing on a bush: time to review. In the Seven of Wands, a figure on high ground holds off six staffs from below, wearing two different shoes: defending a position, maybe unprepared. In the Seven of Cups, seven cups float in a cloud full of visions: too many choices, some of them unreal. In the Seven of Swords, a figure tiptoes away from a camp carrying five swords: a test of honesty. Ask: what am I being asked to weigh up?
